This video is incredible.
Did You Know? (via Vimeo)

Oceanship is a Canadian indie duo out of Waterdown/Stoney Creek, Ontario. I have absolutely fallen in love with them. They sound similar to Coldplay or Pilot Speed (formally known as Pilate).
What’s really interesting is how I discovered them (via Explore Music). There’s a 7th grader that resides in Tennessee whose science fair project is to introduce Oceanship to as many people as possible. His goal is to prove the “power of one” theory, that it only takes one person to make a difference. He’s hoping he can make a difference by helping to popularize this not so well known indie band.
It’s an interesting idea, but probably not very scientific. Although, it seems to be working… the facebook page for the science project is gaining fans quickly, and it worked enough to introduce me to the band!
Anyway, you should check it out. Oceanship’s website has some songs you can listen to via a streaming flash player, and you can visit Oceanship on myspace. You can also watch the music video for their single “Hotblack” on YouTube. If you enjoy the music (or even if you don’t) you should also consider helping Jackson with his science fair project by joining his facebook page and letting him know if you enjoyed the band.
Oceanship is playing live this Friday at Holy Joe’s (651 Queen St. W, Toronto).
I’ve come across this website before, but I wanted to post it again. It is a people search. You can search by name, email, phone number, or user name. Fairly accurate results too!
This site is really cool for music lovers and indie artists. Plus, my friend is one of the two co-founders.
edit: ok, I’ve been on cherrypeel all day, it’s now one of my fav sites ever.
